There are some things that must be done every day, whether it is Sabbath or not.
1) Kiss my husband.
2) Go to sleep.
3) Wake up.
4) Feed the dog.
4) Get breakfast for the kids.
5) Brush teeth.
6) Breathe.
7) Pray.
These things are the same no matter what the day, no matter what the month, no matter what the season, regardless of whether I feel energetic or exhausted.
Everything else is negotiable. On some Sabbaths I walk and on some I sit still. On some I listen to Christian music, and on some I hear God in silence. On some I nap, and on some I do the work of hospitality.
Everyday gets old sometimes. But some days (like today) I am thankful for Everyday, with its holy rhythms.
