Fear is a Luxury You Can’t Afford: Just Make Art

the RMNP poems: ‘Lily Lake, Lily Ridge, Lily Mountain’

LILY LAKE, LILY RIDGE, LILY MOUNTAIN

“The able-bodied can circle Lily Lake in fifteen minutes or circle it twice in thirty.

The able-minded, however, take much longer, for there is much to see along this path.”

Mom

loved this trail that

looped a lake

less than a mile, cozy cars in a cozy

lot, folks fishing. If time

allowed travel, I would return

would not pressure her to try

Lily Ridge, would not leave

her to scale Lily Mountain. I would

linger beside her on a bench for as

long as she liked

Watch wood ducks on Lily Lake
