Motherhood Haiku, week 5
with Emily Dickinson’s “I started Early – Took my Dog –”
Over at Poetry for Life, we continue the Hero’s Poetry Journey with Emily Dickinson’s poem “I started Early — Took my Dog —”. I like to imagine the Belle of Amherst walking her dog, Carlo, as I read this poem.
Here is my motherhood haiku about the moment of crossing the first threshold:
nothing to sea here
no clue what’s in the water—
I sink my toes in deep
P.S. Nan has a much better photo of her painting over at her website, NanHenke.com.
