Motherhood poem, week 12
with Ted Kooser’s “january 29”
Over at Poetry for Life we’re confronting our reluctance to return. Like Odysseus, we may not be too thrilled with what we find when we get home. But let’s be brave, shall we? We’re moms, after all.
Here’s my motherhood poem about not refusing the return. In a nod to my birthday poem (which Ted Kooser most emphatically did not write in celebration of my personal birthday, but which I have claimed as my own), my poem includes a weather reference.
Negative twenty-four degrees. Feels like negative forty-six.
