In Your Own Words: ‘Leaf Blower’
Those of us writing through Dave Malone’s Tornado Drill for my 3-week course In Your Own Words are sharing poems.
Here’s mine for session 4, set above Rockefeller center.
Top of the Rock
Seventy floors above, worries
for you
I exit through the gift shop
tsking at tchotchkes
when I spy
a deck of playing cards
and I want them for you
who brought cards on every trip
made me play Go Fish when we missed our plane
we’ve missed every plane,
boat, taxi, gondola,
elevator ascending above the Rainbow Room,
spaceship.
See my selfie above the city?
I looked for you everywhere.
