In Your Own Words: ‘Hairdresser’
Those of us writing through Dave Malone’s Tornado Drill for my 3-week course In Your Own Words are sharing poems.
Here’s mine for session 7, which is about a friend of mine and the way she drives.
Manual
She of the age to have learned
to drive on a stick. In town
she goes as slow as a golf cart
maneuvered by men
older than she’ll ever be.
On country roads she is
a chimney swift.
Her comet turns sharp
in the middle of the day.
A puma, she stalks miles
like grey prey,
screams like a lady.
